Since 2005 we have been in the business of real estate investing, renovating, and maintenance eventually transforming into two defined companies with the same goal of improving the quality of life for the people we work with. We began in 2005 with Jackson Leasing LLC, our investment company, that focuses on purchasing distressed houses and apartment buildings, fully renovating them to a higher standard than our peers, and keeping them as long-term rental investments (over 80 units). Jackson Home Services LLC branched off in 2018 and is our customer-facing contracting company that focuses on offering residential and commercial high-quality renovation, improvement, and home/building maintenance services. Since both businesses were built on renovating our own buildings for primer long-term rentals, we use only quality materials, proper techniques, and proactively fix uncovered/hidden issues.
How the company grew
Born and raised in Cincinnati and coming from a family of entrepreneurs, the ambition of starting a business came very naturally. With a deep-seated interest in construction, real estate, and finance I began to implement a long, thought-out plan to build expansive real estate companies to last for generations. I determined the path that would most likely lead to success would require extensive knowledge and experience in construction and finance. I graduated from UC with a degree in business, purchased and lived in a “fixer-upper” duplex with my future wife (in 2005), and gained employment installing residential and commercial heating and A/C equipment with a premier HVAC company. Knowing heating and air trade requires knowledge in nearly all construction trades.
After building extensive knowledge in the construction field, I transitioned employment to one of the top investment companies in the country focusing on investment guidance and management roles while obtaining many financial licenses. During this time my wife and I started accumulating rental houses and apartment buildings. She and I would spend nearly all our waking hours outside our “9-5” jobs doing 95% of the renovations ourselves. Over many years Jackson Leasing grew big enough to support our family of five, my mother (our staff/construction manager), and a full-time staff of highly skilled tradesmen.
In 2018 during one of our renovation projects at a 4-family we owned, the local building inspector, impressed with our work, encouraged me to branch out and offer our renovation and improvement services to everyday customers and Jackson Home Services LLC was born! At that time our carpentry staff had an endless supply of renovations including kitchens, baths, tile, doors, trim, painting, and basements for our buildings. However, we did have some extra capacity for our exterior and niche stormwater management crew which became Jackson Home Services LLC.
Since 2005 many of the properties we accumulated had a foundation, stormwater management, and wet basement issues therefore out of necessity we became highly specialized in stormwater management. Before considering any foundation or basement repairs, we first focus on remedying stormwater issues closer to the outside source. Over many years we refined our designs and processes having the luxury of actively monitoring the cost/benefit and effectiveness of various designs (since we owned the buildings) making us highly skilled in stormwater management. We learned when the stormwater is managed properly close to the source, we were able to avoid extremely expensive and highly disruptive major foundation/interior storm drainage renovations in over 95% of buildings with stormwater issues.
As Jackson Home Services LLC evolved (after branching off from Jackson Leasing LLC in 2018) our customers would commonly ask what other services we offered. Although we were highly skilled in whole house renovations, we had to limit our offerings due to the number of tradesmen on our staff and the renovation needs of Jackson Leasing LLC. Since 2020 we have been actively adding staff (We are always looking to hire extraordinary individuals of all skill levels! Email or text us!) and expanding our vehicle and equipment fleet. Therefore, we are continuously adding service and renovation offerings for our residential and commercial customers.
